I always thought this one was a boring watch, but I felt attracted to it anyway, ever since I first found out about its existence. I really like Hamilton as a brand; I love the military connection and the story behind the design, and I love the very tooltastic, no nonsense, purpose driven aesthetic.

But as always, I found the price to be hilarious, so I waited for two years until I managed to buy this watch at half price, brand new, box and papers and even receipt, and yes, I am indeed bragging and boasting about that. Deal with it.

Anyway, the watch is perfect if you’re into the field watch kind of watches out there. The case is heavenly thin, the 38 mm size is oddly masculine looking and very much appropriate, the dial looks great despite being just printed, and the matte case finish, the look of the sapphire, and the angles of the case all give this watch a surprisingly premium look. And of course, it is a pleasure to wear.

Now for the movement. Oh my God, the movement. Amazeballs. Very, very accurate; mine gained about a second and a half a day, 80 hours of power reserve, all in a very small package. Great stuff.

Now, some minor complaints. Or actually, major ones. The bracelet. Does it look awesome? Yes. Is it comfy? Yes it is. But for heaven’s sake, why is the clasp pressed, Hamilton? Why? I get the vintage aesthetic thing, and I also must admit that the pressed clasp is more comfortable because of the lack of weight, but this is a very expensive watch to only sport a cheap, stamped metal clasp.

And that’s it, I’ve no more complaints. I suggest you buy this watch if you like it. Just not at retail. It’s not worth the retail price. Many such cases…
